Delay analysis of DBA using fuzzy logic for upstream EPON

Abstract

In this paper, a delay analysis of Intelligent dynamic bandwidth allocation (IDBA) algorithm is studied. The algorithm is hierarchical, where fuzzy logic is used in the intra-optical network unit (ONU) to enhance the bandwidth utilization while reducing its delay. We compare the IDBA with the most referenced DBA algorithm, Hierarchical IPACT in terms of its delay and cycle time. The results show that IDBA reduce the delay up to 42% and the cycle time up to 44%.
